Training of LGEA EMIS Officers, Statisticians, and Desk Officers on School-Level Data Validation, Data Management, and Analysis

In line with the commitment to empower local data managers and support the “Data-Must-Speak” initiative, the AGILE project in Katsina State organized a comprehensive training program for Education Management Information System (EMIS) officers, statisticians, and desk officers from each of the 34 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs). This training, which involved 102 participants, focused on equipping these officers with the skills needed for validating, managing, and analyzing school-level data—particularly in relation to the annual school census (ASC).

The objective of the training was to strengthen the capacity of data managers at the local level, ensuring that they can independently handle school-level data with accuracy and accountability. By building expertise in data validation and analysis, the project aims to gradually shift data management responsibilities to the schools themselves, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability that will drive sustainable improvements in data quality and educational outcomes.

Through hands-on sessions, the training covered essential topics including data validation processes, techniques for managing large datasets, and methods for analyzing and reporting data. This initiative represents a strategic effort to decentralize data responsibilities, making it possible for grassroots-level education managers to play a more active role in decision-making and performance monitoring. By empowering LGEA officers, AGILE aims to support more data-driven policy implementation, ultimately improving educational planning and resource allocation at the community level.
