AGILE Project Empowering Teachers with Sustainable Skills in Katsina State

The AGILE Project, in collaboration with the Katsina State Government (KTSG) and the Katsina Youth Craft Village (KYCV), successfully concluded a two-day training workshop on sustainable energy practices, focused on briquettes production, modern mud stoves, and waste-to-wealth creation. This initiative, which trained 300 teachers from across the state’s three senatorial zones, aimed to equip educators with practical skills that will empower adolescent girls, promote sustainability, and contribute to global climate action efforts.

The training, which included 100 teachers from each senatorial zone in Katsina, is in line with AGILE’s mission to promote sustainable practices and enhance the skills of educators to foster a positive impact on their students. By integrating these practices into their schools, the trained teachers will play a key role in promoting sustainable energy solutions and providing students with valuable hands-on skills.

Engr. Kabir Abdullahi Kofar Soro, State Coordinator of KYCV, emphasized that this initiative aligns with Governor Radda’s vision to turn KYCV into a premier skills acquisition hub for youth and women, empowering them with marketable skills. This knowledge transfer will also help reduce the number of youth seeking traditional white-collar jobs, by fostering creativity and entrepreneurship.

The workshop is also a result of AGILE’s earlier learning visit to the Katsina Youth Craft Village, where innovative solutions like converting corn husks into eco-friendly products, such as bags and shoes, were explored. The knowledge gained from this collaboration is expected to have a lasting impact on the teachers and their communities.
