Katsina, July 21, 2025 — The Katsina State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) successfully conducted a Community Sensitisation Campaign on the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programme at the Assembly Hall, Katsina College.
The event brought together key education stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, parents, teachers, and representatives of community-based organizations from across the state’s three senatorial zones — Katsina, Daura, and Funtua.
The sensitisation campaign was designed to strengthen understanding of the CCT initiative, which provides financial incentives to families to support adolescent girls’ education. The initiative encourages school enrolment, attendance, and transition to higher levels of education, particularly among girls from low-income households.
Speaking at the event, officials from the AGILE Katsina SPIU emphasized that the Conditional Cash Transfer programme serves as an essential tool in reducing dropout rates and promoting equity in education. The campaign also featured interactive sessions and experience-sharing among school leaders, mothers, and community stakeholders, who expressed strong support for the continued implementation of the programme.

- Testimonies from beneficiaries and school heads on the impact of financial incentives.

About the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT)
The CCT programme under AGILE provides ₦25,000 per academic year to eligible girls in public secondary schools, tied to key milestones such as enrolment, transition, and maintaining at least 70% school attendance. The financial incentive helps families overcome barriers related to poverty, early marriage, and cultural bias against girls’ education.
Through the sensitisation campaign, AGILE is deepening community ownership and strengthening public awareness to ensure every eligible girl stays in school and fulfills her educational potential.

Next Steps
The sensitisation campaign is part of AGILE’s continuous effort to enhance awareness and improve coordination among key stakeholders. The SPIU plans to extend similar engagements to local communities and schools across all LGAs to ensure sustained understanding and ownership of the CCT programme.
