<\/a>The Katsina State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project convened a Formative Research Dissemination Meeting on Disability Inclusion in Secondary Education on Thursday, 2nd October 2025, at the Education Resource Center Hall, Katsina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event brought together key education stakeholders including representatives from government ministries, parents, teachers, School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), civil society organizations, and development partners. The meeting served as a platform to present and validate findings from a formative assessment on disability inclusion, commissioned by the AGILE Project to strengthen inclusive education practices across secondary schools in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n

In her presentation, Masturah Aminu Baba, an independent consultant engaged by the project, shared the research methodology, key results, and recommendations. The assessment highlighted both the barriers and enabling factors influencing the participation of children with disabilities in secondary schools. Among the key issues raised were accessibility challenges, limited awareness on inclusive practices, and the need for targeted support systems.<\/p>\n\n\n

Stakeholders actively engaged in discussions, offering feedback, validating the findings, and committing to collaborative actions. Contributions from parents, teachers, and officials emphasized the urgency of addressing barriers to learning for students with disabilities while also leveraging existing community support systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Project Coordinator for AGILE Project reaffirmed the project\u2019s commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, has equal access to quality education. They underscored that disability inclusion is central to the project\u2019s mission of empowering adolescent girls and advancing equity in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
