PRESENTATION OF KATSINA STATE 2022 ANNUAL EDUCATION SECTOR PERFORMANCE REPORT (AESPR) TO STAKEHOLDERS; COMMISSIONER HAJIA HADIZA ABUBAKAR YAR’ADUA’S VISION FOR KATSINA STATE’S EDUCATION SECTOR

In Katsina State, education isn’t just a priority; it’s a path to empowerment, development, and progress. The Honorable Commissioner of the Katsina State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajia Hadiza Abubakar Yar’adua, has reaffirmed her steadfast commitment to revitalizing the education sector. Her dedication was echoed during the recent 3-Day Stakeholders Review of Annual Education Sector Performance for the year 2022/2023 and the design for the year 2025 to 2027.

The event, organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, was not just a gathering of minds; it was a platform for action. Under the theme of “result-based education sector management, service delivery with emphasis on strategic leadership and performance enhancement,” it brought together stakeholders with a shared vision – to redefine education in Katsina State.

Commissioner Hajia Hadiza Yar’adua’s presentation during the “stakeholders review session” unveiled the State Government’s ambitious plans:

1. Redesigning Education Quality: The State is committed to reshaping the quality of education services, ensuring they meet the highest standards.

2. Evaluating Student Performance: Strategies for evaluating student performance are under scrutiny, with an aim to enhance the learning experience.

3. Igniting Commitment: The Commissioner called for renewed commitment from all stakeholders to improve education service delivery.

4. Empowering through Vocational Education: Practical strategies for vocational education and skills acquisition are being developed to equip students for the modern world.

The Agile project, in collaboration with the System Strategy and Policy Lab, is diligently reviewing the State’s Education Sector Performance for 2022. This critical review will inform policy adjustments and address emerging issues in project and program implementation within the State.

Technical sessions are the vehicles through which strategic leadership and performance enhancement will be achieved. With a focus on policy formation, resource allocation, curriculum development, quality assurance, teacher management, community engagement, access to education, gender equity, technology integration, and data-driven decision making, Katsina State’s education sector is set to undergo a remarkable transformation.

Commissioner Hajia Hadiza Yar’adua emphasized that the State’s objectives are substantial, but they are essential to meet the global challenges facing education. She earnestly solicited support and assistance from all education stakeholders.

The 3-day training witnessed the participation of key figures in Katsina State’s education landscape. Notable attendees included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Mairo Mohammad; all directors and executive directors of its agencies; SUBEB Chairman Alhaji Kabir Magaji; Permanent Members; and all board directors. The Executive Secretary of the Science and Technical Education Board, Professor Kabir Ibrahim Matazu Mni, along with board directors and representatives of Education Quality Assurance Coordinators, Education Secretaries of Katsina, Daura, and Funtua senatorial zones, and State Projects Coordinators of Agile, Dr. Mustapha Shehu, and TESS Coordinator Alhaji Nasiru Danzaria, and their Projects Implementation Unit (PIU) members were also in attendance.

With Commissioner Hajia Hadiza Abubakar Yar’adua’s unwavering commitment and the collaborative spirit of Katsina State’s education stakeholders, the future of education in the state looks brighter than ever. The 3-day training held from August 30th to September 1st, 2023, at the Tahir Guest Palace in Kano was a pivotal moment, setting the stage for transformative change in Katsina State’s education sector.
