AGILE Project: Assessing Impact on Digital Literacy, Life Skills, and the Environment in Katsina State

The past week was packed with significant assessments, the AGILE Project in Katsina State welcomed representatives from the Federal Ministry of Environment to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Impact Mitigation Monitoring (IMM) exercise. Simultaneously, the project received the Impact Evaluation Lead from the National Project Coordinating Unit. This dedicated professional conducted a comprehensive field assessment of the project’s implementation within the state.

The EIA and IMM activities focused on evaluating the level of compliance with environmental standards and protective measures at 75 construction sites and 578 renovation/rehabilitation sites. During site visits, meticulous observations were made, and recommendations were provided based on the adherence to these standards. The aim was to ensure that environmental regulations were being upheld.

The Impact Evaluation, on the other hand, involved visiting schools to assess the impact of the project’s initiatives, particularly in the areas of Digital Literacy and Life Skills. The evaluation aimed to determine how the project was positively influencing the lives of beneficiaries, particularly students, in terms of education.

The overall visit proved highly successful, and the State Project Implementing Unit earned well-deserved praise for their exceptional efficiency and commitment to compliance standards.
