Celebrating the Impact of Education: Katsina State Commemorates International Day of Education 2025

In a dynamic celebration of academic achievement and innovation, Katsina State marked the International Day of Education 2025 with an event that highlighted the role of education in shaping the future. Held at the Conference Hall of Katsina College, the gathering brought together students, educators, and key stakeholders from across the state to demonstrate how education is transforming individuals and communities. The event was organized by the Katsina State Government through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, in collaboration with the AGILE Project. The ceremony underscored the importance of education, with a focus on the state’s progress and vision for the future. The theme of this year’s International Day of Education“AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” highlighted the need for education systems to evolve alongside technological advancements while ensuring that human-centered learning remains a priority.

Progress Through Investment

During her speech, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, emphasized the significant progress being made in Katsina’s education sector thanks to the commitment of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

“The substantial investments Governor Radda has made in education are now yielding impressive results. We’re seeing remarkable improvements in the quality of education across our state,” she shared.

She urged all stakeholders to continue their support in driving the state’s educational reforms.

“We cannot achieve our full potential without the support of all our stakeholders. I assure you that the Ministry remains fully dedicated to realizing Governor Radda’s vision for an empowered and prosperous future through education,” she affirmed.

Inspiring Talent and Innovation

The day’s events were filled with excitement, especially during the inter-school quiz and spelling bee competition, where students from both public and private schools showcased their knowledge and academic skills in a spirited contest. The competition not only challenged their intellect but also fostered a sense of pride and achievement.

The celebration also featured a showcase of innovative technological creations developed by students, further emphasizing their creativity and problem-solving abilities. Hajiya Musawa commended the students for their remarkable achievements, noting the importance of nurturing talent in an ever-changing world:

  • Prof. Kabir Ibrahim Matazu – Executive Secretary, Science and Technical Education Board (STEB)

  • Dr. Mustapha Shehu – State Project Coordinator AGILE/Executive Secretary Development Management Board
